Hi! This website is amazing- great job, and it\'s obvious that much time and effort has been put into this. Thank you for allowing whoever to go through this. I was wondering- do you have any more information on Judge John Trumbull? He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and died in Detroit. I\'m looking for a copy of a portrait that they Detroit Historical Society has. Any information is appreciated- thank you!! -Lindsay

A stone in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Mukwonago, Waukesha County, WI reads as follows: Judson A. Son of Geo. & S. B. Woodbridge d. May 26 1861 19 y 8 mos 13 days Res. Canton, St. Law. County, NY This engraving puts his birth on 13 December 1842. It also marks him as, at one time at least, resident at St. Lawrence County, NY. Would you happen to know who this young man is and what he was doing in Wisconsin and why he is buried within the family plot of Noble Freeman and part of his family? Noble Freeman (1803 – 1888) was born and raised in St. Lawrence County, NY and emigrated from there through Niagara County, NY to Mukwonagao, WI, where he arrived in 1841. I assume -- but do not know -- his wife, Mary, also was born at St. Lawrence County, NY. The presence of a stone for Judson A. Woodbridge suggests Mary Freeman\'s maiden name may have been Woodbridge (I have no evidence at all regarding her maiden name). Here is Mary Freeman’s stone within this family plot: Mary Wife of Noble Freeman d. Aug 26 1869 58 y 9 mos 2 days I have abundant information this specific Freeman family and on a good many more, besides. Many, including my grandfather, were born and raised at St. Lawrence County, NY, so it isn\'t Judson A. Woodbridge\'s engraved residence that surprises me. Rather, it is why he is buried with this family at Mukwonago, WI I would appreciate any information you may have that can throw light on this puzzling and unexplained burial. And, of course, I will be more than happy to share with you whatever information I have regarding St. Lawrence County, NY I look forward to hearing from you. Cordially, Richard H. Freeman

Greetings, You have done a superb job with this website. I am amazed with all the data you provide. And I am pleased that someone has gone to all this effort to keep this info intact. I trace my lineage back through the Ruggles line from Edward Ruggles b. 1828 Hardwick MA. His great, great great grandfather was Samuel Ruggles, Martha Woodbridge\'s husband. It\'s good to know that there is family out there. (Even if it is very distant.) I appreciate all your work. Brooke James (Douglas) Kenney

Dear Woodbridge Record, I cam accross your info yesterday. I have been researching all branches of my family since jr. high in the mid 1970\'s. To my delight I found my great great grandparents on my dad\'s side. My great great grandparents are Denison B. Smith and Eliza B. Woodbridge. I did not know their names, all I knew was the name of his son (my great grandpa) Henry David Smith and his wife Maria Anna Vroom. This is VERY exciting information and clears up some things. I was also looking for a Havens Smith for my grandpa said that his father, as a orphan boy, came to live with his uncle Havens. With this info, I realize that Silas Havens is an uncle by marriage. Anyway, how was all this information gathered and by who? Because I am looking for Smiths, I realize how difficult this is. One inportant step however was to know that Henry\'s father was Denison as I thought it was but was unsure. Thank you for posting this information on the internet, it is very helpful! Thrilled to find The Woodbridge Record, 1883, particularly as the family of Dudley Woodbridge relates to the family of Col. George Morgan. Dudley Woodbridge (1778-1853) married 1) Jane R. Gilman. They had one child, Jane Gilman Woodbridge (born Sept. 12, 1808, at Marietta; died May 13, 1858, at Washington, Pa., buried May 19, 1858, at Washington Cemetery, Washington, Pa.) Jane Gilman Woodbridge married, on Dec. 8, 1829, David Thompson Morgan (born June 11, 1806, at Morganza near Washington, Pa., died Oct. 6, 1883, at Washington, Pa., buried Oct. 9, 1883, at Washington Cemetery). He was the son of George Morgan Jr. (1780-1829) and Elizabeth Aldrich Thompson (1788-1863), and a grandson of Col. George Morgan. Jane Gilman Woodbridge and David Thompson Morgan had no children. Dudley Woodbridge (1778-1853) married 2) Maria Morgan on May 9, 1811, at Washington, Pa. Maria Morgan (born August 3, 1787, at Prospect Near Princeton, N.J.; died December 5, 1869, at Marietta) was the daughter of Col. George Morgan (born Feb. 14, 1743, at Philadelphia; died March 10, 1810, at Morganza; rem. from Morganza, 1873, buried at Washington Cemetery, Washington, Pa.) and Mary Baynton (born March 27, 1749, at Philadelphia; died Sept. 30, 1825, at Morganza; rem. from Morganza, 1873, buried at Washington Cemetery, Washington, Pa.) There you go. Was also quite interested to read Richard F. Nation\'s review of \"River of Enterprise: The Commercial Origins of Regional Identity in the Ohio Valley, 1790-1850\" by Kim Gruenwald, and its focus on Dudley Woodbridge Sr. and Jr. Thanks all around and good work. Most sincerely, John Alexander Craig

HI: Found your site though the name John W. Woodbridge, who purchased land in Lake Forest, IL in 1867. He married Elizabeth Butler. Also, a founder of Northwestern Univ. (correct?) Many of the earlier residents of Lake Forest attended Amherst College. Also, Lucien G. Yoe married Mary A. Wadsworth. Lucien attended Amerherst College in 1868. Before attending Amherst, Lucien was a student at Lake Forest Academy. Was his father P.S. Yoe? Many of the names in the Woodbridge genealogy are familier in the early history of Lake Forest. Do you know of any connections? Shirley Paddock

The Woodbridge Sage Olmsted in your \"The Woodbridge Record, 1883\" seems to be similar to a man by the same name who married Margaret P. Sanchez on 22 Feb 1841 in Alachua County, Florida. There is a second Olmsted, a George F. Olmsted who died in 1841 ans is buried in Florida. George had children. Margaret P. Sanchez would be a 3rd-great-grandaunt.

Nice site. I was looking for the parents of Benjamin Barnard (1755-1770) and none of the Barnard sites seemed to have his mother. Your site popped out Mary Woodbridge (Feb 8 1721) as the spouse of Rev. Thomas Barnard (1716-1776) and th emother of Benjamin, and gave 4 more generations of her ancestors. Impressive.

My great great grandfather was Adolphus Woodbridge, born 26 Feb 1802 in Pennsylvania; married Julia Rhea (daughter of Colonel Rhea) in Sandusky OH 22 June 1825. Two sons born in Sandusky: Theodore Forebush 27 Sep 1827, and William Werden 25 Jan 1829. Moved to Essex County, Upper Canada (now Ontario) in 1831. Operated a store, was a Justice of the Peace, and a tailor by trade -- lived near what is now Kingsville, Ontario in a hamlet called Albertville just east of Kingsville. It is said that Adolphus moved \"at an early day\" to Ohio. One source said near Wooster OH, but we did not find any Woodbridges there. Found Timothy and wife Lydia Chipman in 1820 census in Brunswick Twp. OH, near Medina. Neighbouring Liverpool Twp also had Woodbridges. Timothy had a son Gustavus. One unnamed male might fit Adolphus age bracket. Neighbours in OH named Werden moved to Ionia County MI about 1850, and the coincidence is that Adolphus\' son Theodore also moved there and lived next to Wm. W. Werden. This is the closest we can get to linking with the Rev. John Woodbridge line. Some of Adolphus\' children lived in Detroit, met family belonging to Gov. Wm. Woodbridge, and said they were related. We do not know how. We live within 30 miles south of Detroit, on Lake Erie, and about 9 miles from Kingsville. My great grandfather was William Werden Woodbridge who settled in neighbouring Colchester Township. The choice of the Werden name seems to indicate some Massachussetts history. We have also been to Vermont where Timothy came from, but could not find any link to our Adolphus. That\'s a brief summary of our search. We have visted Sandusky OH and Medina OH libraries, plus the Case Western Library in Cleveland, and corresponded with a descendant of Timothy who traced his migration to Indiana and Kenosha IL where he died. Have many notes on this search. Edwin Woodbridge - Phone 519 738 4368 R. R. 1, 830 County Rd. 50 East, HARROW, ON CANADA N0R 1G0

Gentlemen: I am searching for maps or early engineering drawings pertaining to the layout of 133rd and and 134th streets in Bronx, New York. Apparently, there is a retaining wall which provides lateral support to the elevated earthern wall of 134th St. This wall is currently some ten feet tall. The property in question is in Block 2278, Bronx New York and involves lot 70 (which faces Bruckner Blvd.) and lots 25-31 (which faces 134th St. Bronx, New York). The cross streets, although far away, are Willis and Brown. Can you help? Laurence H. Apel

Dear Stephen You have done a great job. My grandmother was Klyda Richardson. She married Henry Steege who I was always told was a British Consul in Italy. Certainly they lived in Italy and my father was born in Leghorn. Klyda\'s parents were Richard H. Richardson DD and Elizabeth Octavia Woodbridge. Klyda had 4 children, Niva who lived in Paris, Muriel who married an Italian and lived in Italy, Thera who came to Australia and went to England where she died and Vivian Dudley Steege who came to Australia when he was about 21 and lived and died here. Are you interested in tracing families to the present day? It seems to me if this information is not collected it will be just as difficult for future generations to trace their ancestors as it is today. Thanking you, Sincerely, Thera LeFeuvre - North Queensland, Australia

My great-great-grandmother was Lucy Amelia Woodbridge (1846-1938), who married Lewis Summers (1843-1928) in 1867 (1868?). There\'s an adorable childhood picture of Lucy and her sister Elizabeth, who was always called Lizzy, with their mom, who is always \"AE\" whenever anyone bothered to identify her (or anyone else!) in the photos. AS is holding a picture on her lap; it is of her son Dudley, who had died.

Abigail married Nathaniel Winchell, all of which can be found in the Winchell book. But there is an interesting story which I can recall but not document. After their parents\' death in 1708, the children were placed with various households including Abigail\'s placement with the Hooker family - I believe it was Samuel Hooker. Soon after Mercy\'s 18th birthday and her married to Jonathan Humphreys, she sued Hooker for custody. The case was heard in a courtroom presided over by Jonathan\'s dad or other male relative, and custody of Abigail was awarded to the young couple. Hooker was very angry and appealed the case. I don\'t know more, but if you find out anything, please let me know.

Steve, I luckily found your great website last night. I am a great-grandson of William Austin Woodbridge and Mina L. Hubbard (listed on your tree), and can provide some amount of genealogy of their descendants. I have an initial question, then would like to ask you additional questions in the near future. My question – your information shows “Latham Woodbridge” as the father of William Austin Woodbridge. I have 1850 Ohio census information showing “Josephus Latham Woodbridge” as the father (with same 1815 birth date as you list). Could you check the original documentation to confirm the original documentation strictly uses the name “Latham Woodbridge”. Thanks so much for your efforts and site, John Haas
